The award-winning artist duo knowbotiq is one of the pioneers of the Swiss media art scene. In their collaborative project Swiss Psychotropic Gold, they follow the entanglements of the global metabolism of gold and the role of Switzerland in it. They trace the fleeting and often invisible paths of the molecules, as well as the affects and violence affiliated with it. Through this, the reader can explore how the conflict-laden precious metal is "purified" in the context of technocracy, philanthropy, and neutrality and refined for further use.
